Immigration Fraud Has Serious Consequences
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently assisted in a federal investigation that led to the conviction of an Indian national for immigration fraud.
An Indian citizen, Hussain, has been convicted in the U.S. for submitting a fake immigration application. He entered into a sham marriage with a U.S. citizen and created false evidence including insurance, magazine subscriptions, and even fake abuse claims to support a VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) petition.
However, during the trial, it was proven beyond doubt that his "wife" never lived with him or even in the same state. With help from USCIS and testimonies from multiple witnesses, the fraud was exposed.
What was at stake?
Had the fraud succeeded, he could have received an approval on his VAWA petition and possibly green card / legal permanent resident status.
What has happened?
Hussain was found submitting fraudulent documents, convicted for fraud, sentenced sentenced to time-served, deportable aliens, with permanent inadmissibility / lifetime ban.
Our message is clear:
Never attempt to misuse immigration benefits.
U.S. authorities are vigilant, and fraud can lead to criminal charges, visa denial, and lifetime immigration bans.
Stay honest.
