Once your I-20 form lands in your hands, that’s your green light to begin the U.S. student visa process - and you shouldn’t wait.

A student visa (F-1 or M-1) can be issued up to 365 days before your program’s start date. However, there’s a key restriction: you can only enter the United States within 30 days of when your course begins. This means that while you have a year-long window to apply, the earlier you start, the better positioned you’ll be.

During peak application seasons - typically between May and August - U.S. embassies and consulates experience high demand. Appointment slots can fill up rapidly, especially in major cities.
